The musical Once takes a novel approach to the stage as the actors also serve as the orchestra. At intermission, the audience is invited onto the stage to buy concessions from the bar that serves as the main location of the story. This is a recording of the OBC singing the featured song, "Falling Slowly."

New track from the new self-titled album from the The Civil Wars. This is the first time this song was ever performed in front of an audience. As you may know, The Civil Wars broke up last winter shortly after producing this new album. The album was released this past week and was the number one downloaded album on iTunes. Joy Williams has spoken to the media about hoping for a return to the group while John Paul White has been silent. The reason for the group's demise is unknown.
In a return to Musical Theatre Fridays, Idina Menzel is joined by her husband, Taye Diggs, in a performance from her PBS concert, LIVE: Barefoot at the Symphony. The couple met nearly 20 years ago when both were in the original company of RENT. The late, great Marvin Hamlisch introduces Diggs and conducts.
Have you done anything lately that made you uncomfortable?
Over the last several weeks, I have done some things that took me outside of my comfort zone. I placed myself in some social situations that I had not been in for quite some time. Some of these situations led to positive conversations and others didn't go so well. I was happy with myself for how I handled some of the situations and disappointed in myself concerning others. It is true that if you never play you will never strike out, but it is also true that if you never play you will never get a hit. Sometimes you have to put yourself out there even at the risk of failing. People who have never made mistakes are people that have never attempted anything.
I am glad I decided to get a pet although she requires some time and energy.
I am glad I went back to my old support group even though things didn't go at all like I had planned. I am glad I have been able to hear different speakers this summer although I don't agree with everything that was said. I am glad I have read challenging books even though they make me rethink my beliefs and values. I am glad I have a trip planned soon even though it will throw of my schedule somewhat.
If you are unwilling to take risks, if you are unwilling to be uncomfortable, you will never do anything great. In fact, you will never do anything at all. You will never be the spouse you could be, the parent you could be, the employee you could be, the Christian you could be, the person you could be unless you are willing to take risks. Dare to shake things up. Have the courage to risk making the wrong choice. You will only succeed in proportion to the amount you venture.
What areas of life do you need to make changes in?
With every moment we sit idle, more and more opportunities pass us by.
